The lndependent Schools Foundation Pre-School (The lSF Pre-School) is a unique, bilingual and bicultural learning institution for pre-school aged children in Hong Kong. Proudly independent and immersively bilingual, The ISF Pre-School offers its students a rich and challenging education that builds learner engagement and nurtures curiosity. The ISF Pre-School hosts a vibrant, rich, and caring learning environment, where learners explore their world in a purpose-built, safe and supportive setting. A guiding educational principle at the Pre-School is that our learners ‘learn to play’ and ‘play to learn’; they engage, explore and experience with boundless energy and passion. Literacy and numeracy in both English and Chinese are nurtured through a rich range of activities and approaches that build competency and confidence.
Beyond these important intellectual and academic skills, character development through experiential learning forms another core pillar of an ISF education, with a rich and diverse range of challenges offered to all ages. Through experience, ISF learners build independence in their own learning and learn to cope with challenges and setbacks. The Pre-School provides an optimized setting for supported learner experimentation through trial and error.
At the heart of an ISF education lies the essential human values that form the philosophical foundation of our school: commitment, respect, care, passion, courtesy, integrity, harmony, and balance: these are the Eight Virtues that culminate in wisdom – the One. It is our daily practice, and challenge, that these values are embodied in our words, deeds, thoughts, and attitudes. All members of the ISF community serve as important role models as we seek to inculcate these individual attributes in our youngest learners.

The ISF Pre-School community works together in a close-knit, cooperative partnership. Our young learners are engaged and inquisitive. They explore and experience the world around them, as they learn more about themselves and others. Our parents are supportive of their children and are active, engaged participants in the learning process. Under the care of our highly experienced and qualified teachers, learning takes shape through play and guided activities. Together, we share these first steps in the child’s learning journey with its trials and challenges, and to lay a solid foundation for future learning and success.
